Story-first film & music

Auteur Visuel by Jay E. Eff

A bilingual storytelling platform for poetic, human-centred narratives across music and cinema. Currently developing Black Swan, a pan-European prestige systems thriller about the collapse of Just-in-Time continuity in modern urban Europe. Every project begins as a story – a poem, a fragment, a quiet scene – and then finds its way into melody, image and structure.

Based in Sweden · Working in French & English

Auteur Visuel — the creative platform of Jay E. Eff

Auteur Visuel gathers the storytelling work of Jay E. Eff – writer, composer and visual storyteller. The projects begin in text: private lines, poems and lyrics that are written as stories first, then allowed to become music and, finally, images.

Working between français and English, between page, song and screen, Auteur Visuel develops concepts for feature films, limited series, documentary formats and cross-cultural initiatives – always with narrative as the spine.

The platform now also includes the published novel Ari & Noah, its stage adaptation, and forthcoming book-led work developed through the same story-first attention to language, structure and atmosphere.

Areas of work

Current work includes story-led narrative film concepts, a limited series, music-driven visual poems, and a scalable international residency format connecting film schools and festivals.

  • Stories that move between text, song and screen
  • Feature & short film concepts for European and North American markets
  • Projects designed for co-production, festival circulation and cultural funds

Ari & Noah

A quiet, character-driven novel about two people learning how to build a durable shared life without either of them disappearing inside it. Ari & Noah explores partnership through recognition, responsibility, trust and the small adjustments from which a life together is formed.

The novel

Rather than treating intimacy as a struggle for power, the novel follows partnership as an evolving practice: who sees, who acts, what remains unspoken, and how two people gradually learn to recognise the shared system they create together.

A storytelling practice across forms

Without disclosing story details, the practice can be described as three complementary lines of storytelling work.

Narrative Cinema

Character-driven, visually precise projects: intimate dramas, poetic anti-war pieces and European romances crafted for festivals, art-house distributors and select platforms. Each originates in a written narrative, then grows into screenplay and visual language.

  • Feature films and limited series concepts
  • Minimal-location, performance-centred dramas
  • Projects designed for European co-production and indie partners

Music & Visual Poetry

Original songs and bilingual lyrics act as narrative seeds – small stories that can live on their own or unfold into films. Music is treated as another way of telling the story: verses as scenes, refrains as emotional anchors.

Story-first lyrics Bilingual writing Anti-war themes Intimate ballads Cinematic sound

Radio & Audio Drama

Voice-led and sound-led work developed through silence, mediated speech, recurring acoustic objects, spatial transitions and equivalent access. The audio form is treated not as a secondary recording of a stage text, but as an independent dramatic space.

  • Full-cast and ensemble-track development
  • Human, synthetic and hybrid voice exploration
  • Sound-led narrative and acoustic transitions
  • First-listener comprehension and runtime testing
  • Transcript, caption and non-auditory access design

Selected directions in development

Below is a high-level glimpse of current storyworlds under the Auteur Visuel umbrella. Full treatments, bibles and lookbooks are available on request for professional partners and producers.

Prestige Limited Series

Black Swan

A pan-European systems thriller set during the sudden breakdown of Just-in-Time continuity across modern urban Europe. A restrained, intelligent crisis drama about systemic emptiness, institutional lag and ultra-urban fragility.

Before… Being… Here…

An inward journey in nine movements.

An upcoming Auteur Visuel project exploring memory, presence and the quiet spaces where lives begin to intersect. Conceived through a visual-first approach, the work places atmosphere, composition and emotional resonance at the centre of its storytelling.

Coming in time for Christmas. Before… Being… Here… invites readers to slow down, reflect, and perhaps begin an inward journey of their own.

The next book-led work

A quieter and more inward-facing project, distinct from Ari & Noah yet connected by the same attention to presence, emotional structure and the spaces between people.

Coming Soon Nine movements Visual-first Reflective

A quiet, story-first way of building worlds

“Quand viendra l’heure, que tout s’éteigne dans l’amour.” “When the hour comes, let all things fade in love.”
  • Story first, always. Each project begins as a written gesture – a line, an image, a small narrative. Music and visuals are chosen only when they deepen, rather than distract from, that core.
  • Structures as storytelling. Institutions, logistics, systems and invisible dependencies are treated not as background mechanics, but as dramatic and human forces.
  • Bilingual by nature. Moving between French and English is not a stylistic trick but a way of working: two languages, two emotional temperatures, one shared story.
  • Minimalism with depth. Few locations, focused casts, strong visual motifs. Projects are intentionally designed for realistic budgets without sacrificing ambition.
  • Collaboration as extension. Auteur Visuel develops the core narrative, then seeks partners – producers, directors, actors, academics – who can extend and enrich the original vision.
