Story-first film & music

Auteur Visuel by Jay E. Eff

A bilingual storytelling platform for poetic, human-centred narratives across music and cinema. Every project begins as a story – a poem, a fragment, a quiet scene – and then finds its way into melody, image and structure.

Auteur Visuel — the creative platform of Jay E. Eff

Auteur Visuel gathers the storytelling work of Jay E. Eff – writer, composer and visual storyteller. The projects begin in text: private lines, poems and lyrics that are written as stories first, then allowed to become music and, finally, images.

Working between français and English, between page, song and screen, Auteur Visuel develops concepts for feature films, limited series, documentary formats and cross-cultural initiatives – always with narrative as the spine.

Areas of work

Current work includes story-led narrative film concepts, a limited series, music-driven visual poems, and a scalable international residency format connecting film schools and festivals.

  • Stories that move between text, song and screen
  • Feature & short film concepts for European and North American markets
  • Projects designed for co-production, festival circulation and cultural funds

A storytelling practice across forms

Without disclosing story details, the practice can be described as three complementary lines of storytelling work.

Narrative Cinema

Character-driven, visually precise projects: intimate dramas, poetic anti-war pieces and European romances crafted for festivals, art-house distributors and select platforms. Each originates in a written narrative, then grows into screenplay and visual language.

  • Feature films and limited series concepts
  • Minimal-location, performance-centred dramas
  • Projects designed for European co-production and indie partners

Music & Visual Poetry

Original songs and bilingual lyrics act as narrative seeds – small stories that can live on their own or unfold into films. Music is treated as another way of telling the story: verses as scenes, refrains as emotional anchors.

Selected directions in development

Below is a high-level glimpse of current storyworlds under the Auteur Visuel umbrella. Full treatments, bibles and lookbooks are available on request for professional partners and producers.

Feature Concept

Intimate Character Drama

A minimalist, mirror-driven drama about identity and the lives we did not choose – conceived for a single lead performance, limited locations and strong festival potential.

Story-led U.S. prestige indie · Status: advanced concept & visual language

Feature Concept

Visual Anti-War Poem

A black-and-white poetic work seen through the eyes of a child, where memory appears in rare flashes of colour. Built around an original French song that began as a poem on innocence and war.

European co-production · Status: treatment & musical spine

Feature Concept

European Love Story

A bilingual romance spanning decades and two shores of the Channel – an adult, unhurried reflection on how love changes without disappearing.

FR–UK co-production · Status: developed treatment

Limited Series

Historical & Musical Portrait

A prestige limited series interweaving music history, class and memory, told from the servants’ quarters rather than the composer’s podium – history observed from the margins.

European premium drama · Status: six-episode outline

Global Concept

Bilingual Creative Residency

A reproducible format linking film schools, festivals and broadcasters: two emerging filmmakers reinterpret the same story and song in two languages, followed by a documentary and public premiere.

International storytelling format · Status: complete concept & documentation

Feature Concept

La Tempête en Moi / The Storm Within Me

A poetic psychological drama told from inside the mind of a teenage girl quietly drowning in her own anxiety. Through a dual-reality structure, the film explores the invisible emotional storm beneath a calm exterior using silence, sensory distortion and intimate voice-over.

FR–INT co-production · Psychological youth drama · Status: pitch ready

Original Music

Songs as Narrative Seeds

A growing catalogue of French and English songs – from anti-war pieces to intimate ballads – each conceived as a compact story first and as music second, available both for listening and for adaptation.

Recording & sync · Status: released & in progress

A quiet, story-first way of building worlds

“Quand viendra l’heure, que tout s’éteigne dans l’amour.” “When the hour comes, let all things fade in love.”
  • Story first, always. Each project begins as a written gesture – a line, an image, a small narrative. Music and visuals are chosen only when they deepen, rather than distract from, that core.
  • Bilingual by nature. Moving between French and English is not a stylistic trick but a way of working: two languages, two emotional temperatures, one shared story.
  • Minimalism with depth. Few locations, focused casts, strong visual motifs. Projects are intentionally designed for realistic budgets without sacrificing ambition.
  • Collaboration as extension. Auteur Visuel develops the core narrative, then seeks partners – producers, directors, actors, academics – who can extend and enrich the original vision.

Professional inquiries & collaborations
